Coffee with the CEO
Opus Behavioral has a monthly blog series called “Coffee with the CEO”. This allows our Chief Executive Officer, James Schmidt, to discuss relevant behavioral health topics in an educational yet more informal setting. Our goal is to support the Behavioral Health community by facilitating discussions, and supporting Opus EHR customers and patients through their journey.
I recently read an article published in the Eating and Weight Disorders journal about eating disorder patients and how they perceive their own physical appearance. The data suggested patients with eating disorders are 12 times more likely to be obsessed with shortcomings in their physical form than those without.
When I strategize with our group about how we feel about anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorder conditions, our team continues to come up with inventive solutions for handling food addictions. We take time to collaborate based on eating disorder treatment and how EHR systems must progress forward.
For example, we’ve recently customized distinctive intake surveys for one of our customers who cares for many ARFID patients. Our goal was to help each therapist to quantify the urgency of symptoms, such as fear of choking or refusal to eat specific foods.
We know that anorexia nervosa isn’t just about food anxiety, but instead more about managing emotional problems during eating disorder treatment. This is where our responsibility as an electronic health records provider is so valuable, as we can quickly adapt our EHR system based on the types of eating disorders our clients provide therapy for.
You have our promise as a world class EHR company that treating anorexia is as vital to us as it is to every eating disorder therapist inside your eating disorder treatment centers. If any team member of your eating disorder center would like to talk about how we can support your therapies, please reach out to us now to continue the dialogue.
Cordially,
